two months in - state of the position!

Well, now that I have two months on the job at Schneider National, I think its time to recap my time here so far.

The first few weeks were really different for me as I was in Florida running someone else's route on a dedicated account. I really didn't count this first few weeks as it wasn't MY truck, or my route. But I got paid well for doing it, so I was appreciative.

Once I got my truck on Jan 3, the miles have been pretty good. Im averaging between 2700-2900 miles per week so int is going pretty good. I am usually getting preplanned on loads before I am halfway through the current load, so I am hardly ever waiting on a load. I DID have to wait on one last week, but only because he was routing me home and we needed a load close to me so I could route to Atlanta.

Waiting on a load was one of the things I hated when I was at the other company. I would deliver a load and wait sometimes a day or two before I would get another load. That way was not very conducive to my financial well being. SNI has been good to me in that regard so far.

SNI has been pretty good to me all the way around so far, actually. Everything they have told me has been true and they have yet to steer me in the wrong direction. Im pretty satisfied with them so far. I hope it stays that way.

  1. So what sort of home time "plan" are you on? I was informed that they are doing a kind of thing where a driver can opt for 14 out - 3 off, 21 out - 4 off, and 28 out - 5 off. Is this true for you as a solo driver?

And I like the idea of the miles you're getting. I never actually got the many miles when I was with them before. My average was 1800-2300. I did best when I stayed out for three weeks or more of course.

And are you running the "work flow" thing? I have heard mixed stories about it being held off on for mass use within the company.

  2. GiGi...training for Workflow tomorrow and we will be on it on the 28th. As far as hometime, I could actually take 3 days off after two weeks, then out for two and take 2 days off BUT...I would rather stay out 30 and take off 5 in a row. I get 5 days per month off.

My miles could drop, but so far, its been pretty good.
